Methods and limitations
The ticket snapshot retains 40 facts from 44 candidate figures, each from the institution responsible for the visit. The linked visitor pages are undated; the citation tags give the access month rather than a publication date. The collection directory separates individual venues, including the four National Roman Museum sites, and covers art, archaeology and historic houses.
We compiled the comparison and CSV from those same records. The headline range is the minimum and maximum of the nine named full-price options with a published price, without rounding or currency conversion. It is not a Rome-wide average or a like-for-like ranking. The Colosseum row describes access without quoting a price. The chart uses the same nine prices; it does not add fees or infer a total trip budget. Sourced sentences retain decimal commas where the institution uses them; the comparison and CSV use decimal points.
The ticket snapshot is dated 18 October 2026; the collection directory was expanded on 21 October. Exhibition periods qualify the quoted prices. Holiday closures and room notices can override regular hours. Palazzo Esposizioni gives conflicting entry cutoffs; the table uses the earlier one. National Roman Museum venue pages now list a 09:30 opening, while the retained ticket snapshot lists 09:00; follow the individual venue’s current visitor page.
Next review: 1 November 2026, when several exhibition tariffs change; recheck sooner if an institution announces a change. To report a correction, use our contact page and include the museum, figure and source.
For a collection-led choice, use our Rome museums guide. For site inclusions, use the National Roman Museum guide.
